Commissioner Errol A. Mowatt has been a serving member of the Fire Service since January 14, 1975. Mr. Mowatt was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of the Jamaica Fire Brigade on Tuesday October 7, 2014, after almost ten months of acting as commissioner.
As a career firefighter, Commissioner Mowatt has been trained locally and internationally in that vocation. He has successfully completed numerous fire management courses, to include qualification in International Operations Command from the Fire Service College. He holds a Diploma in International Brigade Command from the Fire Service College in England, a Diploma in Industrial Relations from the University of the West Indies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Senior Management from the Management Institute of National Development. He is a founding member of the National Association of Fire Officers (NAFO).
Mr. Mowatt holds a medal of Honour for Meritorious Service and a medal of Honour for Long Service, Both awarded by the Government of Jamaica, as well as the Queens Jubilee medal. He is a fitness and sports enthusiast who loves to jog and he also enjoys the game of cricket.
